Neglected Dog Was The Shyest In The Shelter, But That Helped Him Find A Forever Home

Admin

Being in a warm home with a loving family is every dog’s biggest dream. Unfortunately, many canines nowadays are not so lucky because most of them are forced to fend for themselves on the street or spend their days in the shelter.

Overcrowded shelters whose employees must perform euthanasia in order to increase the capacity of these institutions are the best proof of this.

It is especially a difficult and sad situation for neglected and abused dogs who, due to their shyness and fear, are often overlooked by potential adopters.

However, the fact that miracles do happen is best demonstrated by the case of one dog whose shyness helped him to finally leave his kennel and settle down in a forever home.

When this family came to the BARCS Animal Shelter in Baltimore, Maryland, it was standard procedure to walk from kennel to kennel looking at the dogs and thinking about which one to give a forever home.

At one point, their daughter broke away from them and went to a kennel that housed a dog that did not come out to the front to greet them. This dog stayed in a small corner of the kennel, barely peeking his head out.

The 16-year-old girl noticed that he was extremely shy, and his sad look and scared disposition touched her to the bottom of her heart. She immediately asked the shelter staff to explain to her why that was so, and they did.

They said that he was abused and neglected and that the result was a terrible physical and mental condition. After hearing this, the girl immediately urged her parents to adopt him since “her heart couldn’t handle it.”

In the TikTok video posted by her mother via her account, @j.bugslife, we can conclude that her parents’ answer was positive

In the later updates, it can be seen that they really did succeed. There were some difficulties, such as the struggle with anxiety, “flea biting,” and health problems, but in the end, they successfully overcame all of that, and Charlie, as they named him, was a brand-new dog

“He’s adjusting amazing!” the owner told Newsweek via TikTok. “Truly, all this baby needed was love, and he is blooming.”

Amazing Reactions From The Viewers

Since the girl’s mother posted a video via her TikTok profile, many people outside their home in Carroll County, Maryland, could see the shy dog and a heartwarming scene of adoption.

Although she knew that it would attract a lot of attention, even she could not believe that it would be to this extent. There were many comments and we highlighted some of them.

“I’m crying poor baby. Thank you for saving him❤️” one user wrote.

“Your daughter is a hero,” another added.

And the third quipped: “AMEN❤️Follow Your Heart🙏 You Will Never Be Disappointed 🥰”

In the end, even the shelter staff could not hide their delight because of this adoption.

“We are so happy that Charlie’s family gave him a chance and welcomed him home,” BARCS stated. “Like every animal that comes through our doors, he deserved a second chance. He got that and so much more. We are thankful for every adopter that can see past the initial kennel presence and save a life.”
