After The Bell Rang, The Face Of The Escaped Dog Appeared On The Ring Doorbell Camera

It is no wonder that sometimes, a dog suddenly walks away from home and is absent for a certain period. This can especially be the case when the house or yard is not well-fenced, and the dog is a bit mischievous and has excess energy.

In such situations, the anxious owner will usually call the police or experienced rescuers for help in the hope that the dog has not wandered far and that they will quickly locate him and return him to the home.

It rarely happens that a dog returns home by himself after a certain period of absence. It is even rarer that he will ring the doorbell himself to have someone open the door for him. Yet, that’s exactly what happened at one home in Minneapolis, Minnesota one day.

The Sweetest Surprise

Victor, the homeowner whose doorbell was rung by a Bernese Mountain Dog named Buddy, couldn’t believe what was happening primarily because he was convinced his two-year-old canine was in the house.

However, this man later revealed to PEOPLE magazine that this happened after Buddy learned to jump over the 4-foot fence with which the yard of the house was surrounded.

“In the beginning, we didn’t know how he was getting out,” Victor said. “But we finally saw him jump out of the yard, and that’s when we knew.”

Yet, that day, neither he nor his family members knew at all that Buddy had managed to escape from the house in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was gone for 15 minutes before the bell rang and his face appeared on camera.

Besides being surprised to see him on that side of the door, they were even more fascinated by the fact that he used the doorbell camera like a pro. Thanks to that very camera, we are also able to see this incredible moment with our own eyes.

The video first shows Buddy’s tail wagging, meaning that he is in a very good mood and is actually having a good time. Soon after that, he gets on his hind legs, rings the doorbell, and then successfully “installs” his face right in front of the camera.

After a few moments, the door opens and an exclamation of someone’s excited voice is heard loudly, saying, “Buddy.” It is Viktor’s daughter who cannot hide her excitement to see her dog again and in this specific way.

“He Is Very Smart”

After the impressions subsided due to this extraordinary situation in which Buddy the dog played the main role, the question arises as to how he played it so well. Well, Victor has his own theory.

“We assumed he had seen people ring the doorbell (our main door is see-through glass) and saw that we opened the door soon after it was pressed. He is very smart,” Victor said.

When one does deeper research, he can easily find evidence in science too. Namely, according to Science, our canine pals are capable of successfully imitating people’s behavior, an ability that was thought to be reserved only for humans. This very fact explains a lot.

Anyway, although Buddy won the sympathy of his family with his action, he also encouraged them to take some stricter measures so that he could no longer escape from his home so easily.

“We extend our fence so he can no longer jump it. He doesn’t get out anymore,” Victor said, adding that Buddy is doing “great” following his quick unsupervised jaunt outside.
