Sweet Pittie Spends 785 Days Watching People Pass By His Kennel Because He Looks Intimidating

Admin

So many dogs never get a chance to meet their potential adopters simply because of their looks. And, the Pit Bull breed, sadly, is often the most affected by this issue!

One such story comes from a rescue in Florida, where a Pittie dog, Yogi, spent more than two years waiting for the right person. This sturdy, tough-looking boi is everything but scary, yet the visitors constantly keep passing by his kennel.

Yogi is desperate to find love, but for now, he’s still waiting for that one person who would give him a chance!

Surrendered In 2022

Yogi was brought to Humane Society Naples, Florida, by his previous owner after they had to relocate. His pawrents could no longer take care of him, and they were forced to give him up.

“Surrendered to us in 2022 because his previous owners were moving, Yogi has been with us for 785 days without ever experiencing a foster home or a break from the shelter,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.

From the moment he arrived at the shelter, Yogi has been nothing but the biggest sweetheart. Sadly, people don’t see him that way.

Yogi is mostly overlooked due to his intimidating appearance and the fact that he’s a big dog.

“Many people overlook Yogi due to his rough past and intimidating appearance, but he deserves a second chance just as much as any other dog,” they added.

@hsnaples Meet Yogi 💔. Surrendered to us in 2022 because his previous owners were moving, Yogi has been with us for 785 days without ever experiencing a foster home or a break from the shelter. Many people overlook Yogi due to his rough past and intimidating appearance, but he deserves a second chance just as much as any other dog. Yogi has “stranger danger,” making him shy and reserved initially. This is why we require slow introductions, sometimes needing multiple visits, to ensure both Yogi and his potential adopters feel comfortable and safe. While he may require more patience than other dogs, this doesn’t mean he’s any less deserving of love and a loving home. Once Yogi gets to know you, he’s incredibly affectionate and loyal. He can be reserved at first and needs his boundaries respected, but once he trusts you, he trusts you completely. Yogi is a true gentleman, loving his busy boxes and treats, and he enjoys rolling around on the back seat floor. He does great on walks in the park. He loves playing with his dog friends too! Yogi is desperately looking for the right family who will show him the love, care, and patience he needs. Most of all, Yogi is loyal and forms intense connections with his people. Please give him a chance to be the loving companion he is meant to be. If you’re ready to meet Yogi and give him the home he deserves, please reach out to us or stop by our Main Shelter! He spends his days sitting by the kennel door and watching people come and go with other dogs. So far, Yogi has said goodbye to many of his shelter buddies, hoping that one day, he would be among them.

Still Waiting For The Right Person

What people do not know about Yogi’s personality is that he’s truly loyal and devoted to the people he loves. According to his caregivers, he’s a true companion that would make an excellent family member!

“Yogi is desperately looking for the right family who will show him the love, care, and patience he needs. Most of all, Yogi is loyal and forms intense connections with his people,” they concluded.

Even though he may be reserved at first, Yogi is the biggest sweetheart once he trusts you. All he needs is some time and patience to transform into what every dog owner would want in a dog – a lifelong buddy!

Other than that, he’s a goofy boi that loves taking on exciting adventures. He’s a wonderful walking companion and enjoys the company of other dogs.

“Yogi is a true gentleman, loving his busy boxes and treats, and he enjoys rolling around on the back seat floor. He does great on walks in the park. He loves playing with his dog friends too,” the rescue wrote.

For now, Yogi will still be waiting in his kennel for his opportunity. But, when the time comes, there’s no doubt that he’ll make some family really happy!
