If there is one thing that can make any dog owner devastated, it’s the thought of having to give up your little furry friend.
They change our lives in so many meaningful ways, and realizing that there is even a possibility that could end this can make anyone feel depressed.
Gracie’s owner was dealing with the same situation when her health deteriorated and she had to move into an assisted living home.
Horrible News For Gracie
After learning this news, Gracie’s owner was devastated because she knew that assisted living facilities usually do not allow pets.
This meant that she had to part ways with her adorable dog. She did not want this at all, but she knew there was not a lot she could do.
So, she turned her into a shelter called IndyHumane, where they would take care of her and find her a new family.
However, Gracie’s owner soon learned one very important piece of information about the facility she was living in.
She was actually allowed to have two pets. This filled her with so much joy that she could not even begin to describe it.
Almost immediately, she rushed back to the shelter in Indiana where Gracie was staying and asked the kind staff if she could have her back.
Luckily for her, even though it had only been 20 days, her dog was still there and she was able to reunite with her.
A Beautiful Reunion
When the shelter workers from Indiana learned that Gracie’s mom was coming to pick her up, they wanted to share this beautiful moment with the rest of the world.
Gracie immediately ran to her mom and gave her a big hug. The two were overjoyed to be finally reunited. It was a wonderful day for everyone.
In the description, they wrote: “Gracie’s story is a reminder that sometimes, things happen for a reason. Despite the challenges, love always finds a way to bring us back together!”
This was definitely one of the most wholesome things I have read in a story about dogs, and I am sure it resonates with so many people.
In the comments, somebody wrote: “Yay!! I also love that you allowed her to go back after her surrender. Kindness and understanding.”
It really is amazing that the rescuers were super understanding of her situation and were able to reunite Gracie with her mom on such short notice. I am glad things turned out so well.
One person wrote: “It’s a win-win situation! They should all allow pets, especially when residents can care for them , even with a little assistance.”
I definitely think that all assisted living facilities should have this rule as it will greatly improve the lives of all residents there and help make them more comfortable. It really is a win-win for everyone.
In the end, I am glad to see that Gracie’s story has a happy ending and I hope she and her mom get to live their best life despite the circumstances.
