Living on the street is possibly one of the scariest things an animal can go through. Unfortunately, for a lot of doggos around the world, this is the reality.
Since they mostly depend on the helping hands of loving hoomans, as soon as they come across one, most of them can’t contain their excitement.
However, because of all the hardships they have been through, some of them completely lose trust in their two-legged friends, making it difficult for rescuers to save them.
Never Give Up
Luckily, rescuers are the most loving and determined people, ever, and they will do everything in their power to try and save a furry friend in need – and Joey is no exception.
When he found out that there was a sick dog roaming around a busy street, he knew that he had to step in and help. But what he didn’t know was that this wouldn’t be a one-day rescue.
From the moment that he saw and approached the pup, Joey knew that he would have to put in a lot of effort in order for this pup to start trusting him.
“I have covered so many rescue stories as a part of my job. But experiencing it firsthand while watching Joey was so humbling because I could really feel how desperate and scared this dog was until Joey came along,” Brielle, Dodo producer, and Joey’s friend, said in a video.
Joey started by getting informed on how the pup ended up on the street, hoping that it would help him make a stronger bond with the pup. Ultimately, he realized that the best plan of action was to give him some food and hope that it would help make the pup feel more relaxed.
For the next three days, Joey would go back to the place where the pup used to hang out and talk to him in a calm voice while giving him some yummy food.
“He didn’t let us come near him at the beginning, so we would have to throw the chicken and beef at him. Every time another person came by, he would cower away. But I knew the whole time that this was a good dog. This was a dog that didn’t deserve to be on the streets and just needed a chance to feel loved,” stated Joey.
Meant To Be
On the third day, as Joey was getting ready to take the pup to the vet after finally capturing him, the most amazing thing happened.
A couple came out of a nearby restaurant and stopped Joey, informing him that they actually wanted to adopt the pup, but they had no idea how to do it.
Joey, overjoyed by this incredible news, decided to immediately take the pup to the vet so that they could determine his condition before he went off to his forever home.
“Luckily, the dog wasn’t really sick so we were able to get the plan in motion,” he stated.
However, because the couple lived in another country, the pup had to be taken to Los Angeles, first, where he spent a couple of days waiting for his new family to pick him up.
As soon as his hoomans got everything ready, they drove down to Los Angeles and took the pup across the border, where a fun, happy life was waiting for him.
“Now, Jesús is living his best life… I’m so excited to see him learn to love and learn that he is safe,” Joey concluded.

If it wasn’t for Joey and his determination, who knows what would have happened to this poor pup?
