Woman Was Having Her Car Windshield Replaced When She Suddenly Saw A Tail Under The Hood

Admin

When this woman from Long Island came in to have her car’s windshield replaced, she hoped it would be a standard procedure that wouldn’t take long. However, something happened that she never expected.

When the mechanics opened the hood, she saw that there were many leaves inside, but what immediately caught her attention was a tan tail peeking out from the pile of leaves.

After the initial shock, she quickly recovered her composure and called a well-known rescuer for help.

Cute Little Culprit

As soon as Karenlynn Stracher, a famous Long Island wildlife rescuer, got a call from this woman, she was on her way to that location. When she observed the place where the animal was seen, she immediately noticed a pile of leaves shoved inside.

“There is most definitely a nest in there…” she wrote in a TikTok video featuring the rescue.

After she removed most of the leaves from that part, suddenly a bundle of gray fur and a skinny tan tail appeared on the part where the car engine is located.

Then, everything became clear to her – it was a tiny possum that made a nest of crunchy leaves with his prehensile tail. According to Stracher, “a prehensile tail is the tail of an animal that has adapted to grasp or hold objects.”

He was a cute little culprit but was very angry, meaning that he needed a better and safer home. With a little difficulty, Stracher soon managed to catch him by using her blanket, and he was finally out of the car.

Stracher recorded this rescue operation and shared the video with her TikTok followers via her account, @wildliferehab_kl.

Back Where He Belongs

Wrapped in a blanket, Stracher gently laid the possum on the ground and looked to see if everything was okay with him.

When she determined that this wild animal was perfectly fine, she transferred him into the carrier and started looking for the place of his new beginning.

After a bit longer walk, she reached the nearby park with ample space and tall grasses; a perfect place for this tiny creature.

She gently placed the carrier on the ground, opened it, and let the possum walk out and head into the wild. It didn’t take him long to do exactly that.

“Have a good life, little possum,” Stracher said, watching him wander back where he belongs. “Be safe.”
