He found himself on the street and couldn’t understand why.
All he saw was his owner’s car slowly vanishing into the distance.
Why are they leaving without me? Are they coming back? Am I now truly alone in this world?
What raced through Cody’s mind at that particular moment remains a mystery, but one thing was for certain – he was so scared and so heartbroken.
The devastating expression on his face was impossible to erase. Deep down, he somehow knew that he was being abandoned by the people he trusted the most… for good.
His Eyes Told The Whole Story
Workers from the nearby industrial area in Southern California witnessed the whole abandonment. It was beyond their understanding to see someone leaving their dog in the most cruel and heartless way.
He was literally dumped from a moving car and left on the street. The owners drove away without even looking back, leaving the poor canine completely shocked.
The workers acted immediately, contacting Suzette Hall, the long-time rescuer and the founder of Logan’s Legacy, from Irvine, California.
“A little pocket pity, tossed out of a moving car yesterday at 6 P.M.. Employees in the industrial area saw it happen. His sad eyes told his whole story. And broke our hearts in half,” Hall stated in a Facebook post.
The dog couldn’t contain his sorrow. He just curled up by the road as if he tried to erase the devastating scene he just took a big part in. He was between heartbreak and hope that his humans would eventually return.
Sadly, they never did.
Hall and her team wasted no time. They instantly rushed into life-saving action and located the dog. However, he was just so scared and terrified that he refused to go with them at first.
He clearly lost all his trust in people, but Hall knew that kind words and some delicious treats were the right approach to a broken heart.
After spending some time luring the dog into a humane trap, she successfully captured him – and helped this sweet, sad boy embark upon a brand-new life journey!
Cody’s Hope Is Back
It’s never easy to get a traumatized dog to trust you. Yet, Hall and her amazing team succeeded in helping this abandoned pup come out of his shell.
They gave him a name (Cody) and a place to be. And, most importantly, they gave him hope. For the first time after abandonment, Cody felt safe in someone’s lap. He started to trust again, and he definitely was on the way to healing his broken heart.
Thanks to Hall’s friend, Genavie, Cody got a beautiful foster home and a fresh start. It was so rewarding seeing him enjoy every single pat on the head.
He felt so loved by Genavie that he didn’t want to leave her sight even for one bit. Soon, his sad eyes transformed into beautiful, glowing stars that reflected happiness!
“She has mended his broken heart and turned his sad eyes into glowing stars,” Hall wrote in an update post.
For now, Cody will be spending time with his new foster mom. He needs some time to recover from his traumatic experience caused by abandonment.
Cody’s already a lot happier and couldn’t be more grateful for having the loving home that he has. When the time comes, I’m absolutely positive that he will make some lucky family extremely happy!
