There’s no greater joy for a dog lover than witnessing the smile on their beloved companion’s face. One such case comes from Iowa, where a shelter dog, Faya, just got the biggest reason to smile!

After spending over 400 days as the shelter’s longest resident, this lovely mutt finally found her perfect match and celebrated the best gift of all – a new dream home!

She Absolutely Deserved To Have A Place To Call Her Own

For the staff at Humane Society of Scott County, Iowa, Faya has always been a special dog. With her brown eyes and striking colorful fur, she is a sweetheart and loves absolutely everyone at the rescue!

“Faya has been at our shelter for exactly one year today. She is so wonderful with our staff and we love her to pieces, but she deserves a place to call her own,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.

But despite her one-of-a-kind character, the one thing she was missing were applications. She was stuck at the shelter longer than anyone expected, recently celebrating her 400-day milestone.

Faya didn’t let that discourage her, though. She preserved her pawsitive attitude and the most beautiful smile despite unlucky circumstances. During her stay, she was wonderful with the stuff and captured everyone’s heart with her sweetness.

Then, one day, a hooman-shaped miracle happened! Faya’s new dad appeared at the shelter’s doorstep, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Everyone at the shelter was so happy to finally see Faya warm up in the arms of her new owner. It’s been such a long journey, but she finally made it!

“It’s official…Faya, our longest resident, has been adopted after 420 days of living in the shelter! To say our staff and volunteers were overjoyed is an understatement. We’ve given her so much love and care over the many months she was here and this is the moment we were all waiting for,” HSSC shared in a Facebook post.

She Couldn’t Be Happier

Faya and her dad couldn’t be happier to find each other. Given their shared enthusiasm at the very first meeting, it was definitely love at first sight.

From now on, this sweet girl will never, ever have to worry about finding a home again. She finally has a lap to take cozy naps in and a loving home to be in. But, most of all, she has a friend!

“She finally gets to sleep in a home of her own. We are so incredibly happy for her and her new best friend,” they added.

Faya’s heartwarming adoption story took the internet by storm. Hundreds of people reacted to this sweet news, sharing love and positive comments.

“I can’t tell who is happier in this photo! Faya or her new dad,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Look at how happy she is, she knows she’s been saved. And the smile on that adopter’s face says it all. They will be a team. Thank you for adopting,” another one added.

We wish you a happy life, Faya!
