When Hope For Paws, a non-profit animal rescue group, which is based in Los Angeles, California, got multiple calls and messages about an abandoned pup living in a park for a few months, they knew they had to finally give him a home.
Loreta Frankonyte and Eldad went to look for the pup one day, but weren’t able to find him. Eldad decided to return the very next morning since he received news about a major storm about to hit Los Angeles.
Luckily, this time, it was different.
Rescue Mission
As soon as he arrived at the park, he immediately spotted the confused pup standing on the sidewalk.
Eldad took out some delicious treats and started feeding her, hoping to gain her trust and show her that he was there to help.
The plan worked, and in no time, this sweet dog was eating out of Eldad’s hands.
He managed to slip a leash over her head, and even though she got startled at first, she soon calmed down, allowing Eldad to pick her up and put her in his car.
Eldad’s friend, Hayley Mysliwiec, suggested that he name the pup Jolene, so he did!
To The Shelter
As Eldad was driving her to the hospital so that Jolene could have a thorough checkup, the storm broke out.
“The timing of this rescue couldn’t have been more perfect, because just minutes after this rescue, a major storm that was scheduled for all of Southern California just started. So happy she doesn’t have to sleep outside tonight,” said Eldad.
Even though the long drive made Jolene nauseous, causing her to throw up, everybody greeted her and nobody was upset with the little accident.
The very next day, Jolene went in for surgery, which turned out to be very successful.
However, now she needed a warm and loving foster home that would ensure that her recovery journey was as smooth and as swift as possible. And, luckily, she got just that.
The Animal Rescue Mission (ARM), an organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing animals, stepped in and offered to foster this brave pup until she recovers.
Forever Home
But, they did so much more than that!
In no time, Jolene regained her strength and was feeling better than ever, allowing the ARM team to find her a loving forever home.
Jolene settled into her new home in no time, falling in love with her new family as soon as she met them.
Now, she no longer has to seek shelter in a scary park as she has a warm home and incredible hoomans, along with a furry foster sibling named Meg, whom she loves playing outside with.
If you, too, would like to adopt or help out a pup like Jolene, head to their websites or even your local shelter and offer them your assistance. I’m sure they would appreciate it!
